WELCOME TO OUR COLONY

Colonia is an initiative that seeks to deconstruct the "machismo" in Latin American scientific communities. By uniting and creating a safe space where we can tell our stories, we will make our voices heard. Over the past 30 years, the female myrmecologist community has been steadily growing, and we have shown that we are essential members of the improvement of the Academy and Society.

By inspiring colleagues to share their stories, we pursue to tackle inappropriate behaviors and report them. And, seek alternatives for inclusion at different academic levels.

Our objective is to avoid that the gender-gap would be a reason for us not to dream of giving our full potential as students/researchers/teachers/mothers/
friends and any role we want to assume.

Do you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome in your workplace? Do you feel under-appreciated, yet somehow overworked by your colleagues? Have you suffered discrimination on your academic levels because of your gender?

You are not alone!

Share your

Story!
